In the children's room

I’ve got a doll
that wakes me up at night
and holds her eyes still in day.

She reaches for a sea wall
in a room of blue and white,
even when the puppets say “she’s just a doll.”

But when the rainfall
gives me a fright
she says “Don’t worry; I will make your day!”

I get up, I grab my ball,
start looking for the knight,
a husband for my doll.

And then the cat meows to call
my mum.  She comes flying on a kite
and sings: “let’s waste another day!”

“No, mum, I know for good you’re gone,
but now, it’s alright
I’ve got a lover for my doll
and games to spend my day.”
